Syeda Gulnoor Zahra, Head of Research, AI

We are delighted that Syeda Gulnoor Zahra has joined as our new Head of Research, AI. Syeda is a PhD candidate at the University of Bath’s Centre for Doctoral Training in Accountable, Responsible and Transparent Artificial Intelligence (ART-AI). She holds degrees in MSc Data Science (University of Sheffield) and BA Business Management (University of Sheffield). Her current research at Bath broadly focuses on algorithmic accountability, auditing and AI regulation. Syeda’s doctoral thesis examines algorithmic accountability in the content moderation processes of major social media platforms. She has also previously worked with the AI Assurance team at the Responsible Technology Adoption Unit (RTA), formerly known as the Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation (CDEI).

Catriona Gray has stepped down from the position to focus on the completion of her PhD. We would like to thank Catriona for her hard work and dedication to the AI Assurance Club over the last two years, contributing content for the monthly newsletter, working with the team on various white papers and reports, and notably producing our annual AI Governance and Assurance Global Trends Report. Given her now considerable experience in the field, Catriona remains part of our team as a Senior Advisor.
